MacBrayne's buses

At one time MacBrayne buses would have provided a vital link for the many residents in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

They were taken over by the Scottish Bus Group in the early seventies.

Some of their buses have been restored by enthusiasts and they are brought along to events and rallies throughout Scotland.

Two of these buses were at Glasgow's Riverside Museum and passengers were taken for a short trip through the west end of Glasgow.

As well as the display of buses, commercial vehicles and cars were also present at the open day.

Most of these were privately owned and had been either well looked after or restored.

Old buses don't die and go to heaven, but some get rescued and restored by groups such as the Glasgow Vintage vehicle Trust.

At their Open Day the Bridgeton bus depot was filled with many models from different eras, on display for the public to come along and enjoy.

Many of the liveries are long gone now but hopefully not forgotten.
