Commonwealth Games marathon race

Over fifty athletes from around the Commonwealth took to the streets of Glasgow to take part in the men's and women's marathon at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Thousands of spectators came out to give their support and cheer on the runners as they made their way twice round the 13 mile course.

The greatest crowds were in the city centre, while some of the further out parts of the city seemed almost deserted.

Running along Argyll Street
Avoiding the rain
Waiting for the local boy
Light on their feet
Pure concentration
Fun run
Still a long way to go
Applause from the crowd
Nails polished and jewellery on for the race
Being closely followed
Looking relaxed
Keeping ahead
A close race
Reaching for a drink of water
Running in step
